Prominent Uyghur novelist dies in Covid isolation

Prominent Uyghur novelist Abdulla Sawut has died in his homeland in Covid isolation. According to social media reports, Sawut passed away on December 18 due to delayed medical treatment while under house arrest.

 

 

Since 2017, the novelist spent four years in a Chinese camp starting but got released because of his high blood pressure and heart problems. Insufficient medical care in Covid isolation eventually cost him his life. Sawut authored eighteen books.
