Senior members of South Africa’s African National Congress praised China’s “remarkable achievements” in alleviating poverty in the “Xinjiang” Uyghur Autonomous Region, saying South Africa is drawing inspiration from China, IOL reports.

A seminar on “Xinjiang” was held at the Chinese embassy in Pretoria, and featured Zumrat Obul, the standing committee chairperson of the People’s Congress in “Xinjiang”.

According to Dakota Legoente, a member of the ANC, South Africa is learning from China’s “unprecedented” development and poverty alleviation strategy.
