On Dec.22, Uighur Times (English) board members unanimously voted in favor of Fatimah Abdulghafur to be the next Director of Uighur Times. As the new director of Uighur Times, Fatimah is going to lead a group of volunteers at Uighur Times to continue its news reports focusing on the current ethnic and cultural genocide in the Uighur region (East Turkestan), campaigns in the Uighur diaspora, international response around the world, etc. Since its establishment, the Uighur Times has been supported solely by volunteers and has not received any funding or donations from outside sources. Uighur Times has published numerous first-hand news articles that benefited activists, researchers, and people around the world who are concerned about the current ongoing atrocities in the Uighur region. The previous director and all the other members of the Uighur Times wish the best for Fatimah and are looking forward to the new energy to be brought by her.
Here is a short biography of Fatimah Abdulghafur Seyyah. She is a writer, poetess, and board member of the World Uyghur Writer’s Union. She is also the author of the poetry collection “The Mystery Land (Uyghur Edition)”. Fatimah is a nationally accredited Uyghur-English interpreter. She is a volunteer social worker. She is the founder and director of the Seyyah Coding Academy. Fatimah is also a researcher and a PhD candidate in Geophysics based in Sydney, Australia.
