The US Congress has received a report on China’s horrific abuse of Uyghurs in their homeland, Bloomberg News reports.

The US State Department has made plans to add pressure on China over what it called horrific abuses of Uyghurs and other ethnic groups in East Turkistan/Uyghuristan (Xinjiang). The issue has become a primary point of tension between Washington and Beijing.

Uyghurs, a Turkic people living in their Chinese occupied homeland, are going through genocide, a charge Beijing has repeatedly denied.

US government will fully leverage its authorities and resources to combat forced labor in Xinjiang, the report said. President Joe Biden has put human rights at the forefront of his China policy.
