“About 13,000 vehicles await a “small electrical component” before they are delivered to US dealers by the end of March”, Autoweek reports.
US customers have to wait for some Audi, Porsche, and Bentley models because of a component tainted by Uyghur forced labor. The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (effective from June 21, 2022) restricts import of the part, according to the US Customs and Border Protection website.
Uyghur forced labour has in recent years become a great concern for Western Human Rights advocates and government bodies. Since the closure of some of China’s so called “re-education” camps, Beijing has been accused of Uyghur Human trafficking to work in factories in other parts of China proper, sometimes thousands of miles from the Uyghurs’ homeland.
