Uyghur Americans Celebrate Independence Day by Showcasing Their Culture

Uyghur Americans enthusiastically celebrated the annual American Independence Day in a distinctive manner. Organized by the Uyghur American Association, community members and students from Ana Care School in Fairfax, Virginia, joined fellow participants in Pennsylvania, the historic birthplace of the United States’ declaration of Independence in 1776.

Donned in traditional Uyghur attire, embellished with vibrant colors and intricate designs, the Uyghur community mesmerized the people of Philadelphia with their heartfelt performances.

This significant event exemplified the Uyghurs’ integration into the patriotic spirit of the United States, proudly displaying the richness of their own culture.

This marked the first active participation of the Uyghur American community in such an event. Elfidar Iltabir, President of the American Uyghur Association, expressed her hope for future involvement in Washington DC’s Independence Day celebrations next year.
