Ilham Tohti Initiative, a German non-profit, co-hosted a six-hour international conference in Berlin last week to inform the media and politicians about the Chinese genocidal policy against the Uyghurs and other Turkic people. The panel included Sayragul Sauytbay, a former camp detainee, and Dr. Adrian Zenz, a researcher from the Victims of Communism.
On the eve of the Berlin conference, Ilham Tohti Initiative held a press conference to inform the media and politicians about the Uyghur genocide. Dr. Adrian Zenz, Sayragul Sauytbay, Marie Holzman, and Alexandra Cavelius answered the questions asked by the Media.
The organization thanked Margerete Bause, a former member of the Bundestag, for her continuous support from the very beginning, the founding ceremony of the NGO in Munich in 2016!
In his speech, Adrian Zenz described the Chinese crimes against Uyghurs as insidious genocide. Sayragul Sauytbay, a camp survivor, testified at the conference and called the international community not to stay idle but stop the aggression of authoritarian regimes like China and defend democracy, freedom, and universal values!
Mr. Reinhard Bütikofer, an MEP, acted as the patron of the conference.
Both former and present members of the German Federal Parliament called the German government to adopt a resolution identifying the Chinese crimes against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples as genocide.
