Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hongkongers, and Chinese dissidents in exile have taken to social media to boycott the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. To many, online advocacy is the only means to raise awareness about the atrocities committed by the Chinese government towards their people.

Human rights advocacy groups, politicians, and regular citizens of the free world have joined the last-minute boycotts. The games may not be halted but will likely have fewer viewers.
