Guidelines for Columnists – Uyghur Times

Thank you for accepting the opportunity to contribute as a columnist for Uyghur Times.

We appreciate your commitment to sharing valuable insights on Uyghur topics, China-U.S. relations, Central Asia and the Middle East, human rights, Uyghur culture, and the diaspora. To ensure a cohesive and engaging platform, we have established the following guidelines for our esteemed columnists:

  • 1-Content Focus: Please ensure that your columns align with the core themes of Uyghur Times, focusing on subjects such as Uyghur issues, regional dynamics, human rights, and related topics. We encourage thought-provoking content that stimulates meaningful discussions among our readership.
  • 2-Originality and Uniqueness: We value original and unique perspectives. Please refrain from submitting content that has been published elsewhere or plagiarized. All submissions must be your original work.
  • 3-Accuracy and Fact-Checking: Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and ensure that your columns are well-researched and supported by credible sources. Fact-checking is essential to maintain the integrity of the information presented.
  • 4-Tone and Language: Use a professional and respectful tone in your writing, promoting constructive dialogue. Avoid personal attacks, offensive language, or any content that may incite hatred or discrimination.
  • 5-Word Count and Format: Aim for a word count between 600 to 1000 words for each column, providing sufficient depth while maintaining reader engagement. Ensure your submission follows a clear structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. If relevant, you may include subheadings to enhance readability.
  • 6-Citations and References: Whenever applicable, provide proper citations and references for external sources used in your columns. This helps to uphold transparency and allows readers to explore further.
  • 7-Editorial Review: All submissions will undergo an editorial review process for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to our guidelines. Our editorial team may provide feedback or suggest revisions to enhance the overall quality of the content.
  • 8-Regular Contributions: We encourage our columnists to submit contributions on a regular basis, as agreed upon. Consistency in your submissions allows for sustained engagement with our readership.
  • 9-Author Bio: Please provide a short author bio (approximately 50 words) to be included at the end of each published column. This will introduce you to our readership and enhance your professional visibility.
  • 10-Editorial Independence: It is important to note that while we value diverse opinions, the views expressed in your columns are your own and do not necessarily reflect the views of Uyghur Times as a publication. We maintain our commitment to editorial independence and providing a platform for a range of perspectives.
  • 11-Political Affiliation: If you are a member of a political party or have any political affiliations, we ask that you disclose this information in your author bio or within the column itself. Transparency regarding potential biases helps readers better understand the context of your opinions and viewpoints.

By following these guidelines, we aim to maintain the high quality and integrity of content published on Uyghur Times. We appreciate your dedication to promoting understanding, raising awareness, and fostering meaningful discussions on topics that matter.

Thank you for being part of our columnist community. We look forward to reading your insightful contributions.
