Democrats and Republicans Increase Pressure on China Over Uyghur Rights

Both parties in the U.S. Congress are urging the Biden administration to take a firmer stand against China’s treatment of its Uyghur Muslim minority. This week, Representative Ritchie Torres (D-NY) criticized the administration for failing to submit a report on the situation, while Republicans pushed a measure to block contacts with Chinese officials linked to Uyghur oppression.
