Statement on Uyghur Times Social Media Targeted by Chinese State-Sponsored Hackers

Unauthorized users and IPs have been manipulating our accounts and deactivating our page for the last three months. This is part of the Chinese government’s ongoing cyber attacks against our network since it was founded in 2018, as previously reported. We have been monitoring and tracking these attacks, identifying the likely source as a Chinese state-sponsored hacker. While we report the illegal activities of these attackers to U.S. law enforcement and the security departments of social media companies, we are committed to exposing the identity of the hackers to the public. We will also take the necessary legal and technical actions to protect our rights to continue our work and expose the human rights violations committed by the Chinese Communist Party.
