Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) and it’s alley in Turkish Parliament Nationalist Movement Party MHP rejected a bill to investigate mass violations of Uighur human rights by Chinese authorities in the Uighur homeland.
This news came after the official Facebook account of Turkish Good Party (Iyi Party) published this statement:” Our party’s “proposal to investigate the persecution of the Uighur Turks” was rejected by the votes of the Ak Party and MHP, despite the approval of opposition party.
Investigating the persecution of our fellow cognates is not a matter of competition, but a historical responsibility of being Turkish.” This is not the first time such a bill was opposed and rejected by Erdogan’s Justice and development party since China increased its crackdown on Uighur people.
On late Feb 2019, a statement that accused China of imposing “torture and political brainwashing in internment camps and prisons” on Uighur Turks issued by the spokesman of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Hami Aksoy. But since then, the world noticed the inconsistent stance of the Turkish government on the Uighur issue. Last month the deputy minister of Turkish foreign ministry Sedat Onal said: “we support Chinese counter-terror efforts”. But its not secret that Chinese efforts are internment camps and eradication of Uighur identity while the so-called terrorists are the Uighurs , who see themselves as a different ethnic and cultural group from Han Chinese, the major ethnic group in China.
