Munich- Dolqun Isa invited Uyghur friends to a celebratory event for the 20th anniversary of the World Uyghur Congress in Germany.

In a speech to the public, Dolqun Isa, the President of the World Uyghur Congress, called on members of the Uyghur diaspora community across the globe and friends of Uyghurs to participate in the 20th-anniversary event to celebrate the resilience and hard work in defending Uyghur rights since the founding of the organization 20 years ago.

“With the support of the Uyghur diaspora community across the world, WUC has reached the current stage where we can represent Uyghurs at the global level and defend Uyghur rights. We will have colorful and diverse events and activities during the 3-day event. With your support, we have purchased the office of the World Uyghur Congress, and we will serve you and present our culture to you here in our office during the event. We will pray here; our religious leaders will join us, as will our intellectuals, to discuss our next actions. Many artists are coming from various places to perform beautiful parts of our culture. Our comedians will join us to make us laugh for a moment, to revitalize our spirits and hope for a better life for all of us here and back home. We will also commemorate the 110th birthday of late Uyghur leader Ehmetjan Qasimi, the President of the East Turkistan Republic.”

The World Uyghur Congress was founded on April 18, 2004, through the merger of the World Uyghur Youth Congress and another organization, the Eastern Turkistan National Congress. On its website, the WUC states that “The World Uyghur Congress strives to promote democracy, human rights, and freedom for the Uyghur people through peaceful, nonviolent, and democratic means in order to determine their political future.
