The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), a national organization representing physicians and surgeons across specialties, has strongly denounced forced organ harvesting in China. In a recent statement, the AAPS expressed concern about the Chinese Communist Party’s authority and its involvement in arresting Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghurs, Christians, and others.
The significance of the AAPS statement on forced labor stems from its standing as a well-established national organization representing physicians and surgeons in the United States. With a track record of voicing their perspectives on diverse healthcare and medical policy matters, the AAPS brings credibility and attention to the issue at hand.
“There is overwhelming evidence that by the authority of the Chinese Communist Party, which holds absolute power in China, members of the Chinese Communist Party have arrested Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghurs, Christians, and others in China, incarcerated them, done medical testing without consent for the purpose of matching their organs with transplant recipients, and removed their organs for transplantation, killing them in the process of doing so, engaging in “transplant tourism” for money.”
Furthermore, extensive investigations and research have shed light on China’s employment of forced labor, forced sterilization, concentration camps, rape, and cultural destruction as part of their genocidal policies against the Uyghur population. There remains a significant need for further research regarding Uyghur organ harvesting
