“What is genocide? According to Zhao Li Jian, the Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the U.S. policy toward Native Americans is the ‘real’ genocide. What the U.S. should do, is to conscientiously reckon with its historical crimes of genocide against native Americans, and take practical actions to reduce racial discriminations against ethnic minorities such as Native Americans, African and Asian Americans.”

Zhao’s statement came as a response to the White House Spokesperson, Jen Psaki’s remarks on Monday. ‘China’s use of an Uyghur athlete to carry the Olympic torch cannot be a distraction from ‘the human rights abuses, the genocide’ committed against the Uyghurs.’, Psaki told the reporters on the opening ceremony of the Beijing genocide Olympics.

Chinese state media Global Times reported that Zhao Lijian further pointed out that the accusations of ‘genocide’ made by the United States are a lie of the century. They expose the sinister intention of the U.S. to politicize the Olympics and maliciously smear China through Xinjiang-related issues.

According to Zhao, ‘the American approach is unpopular and is doomed to fail, leaving the U.S. isolated. The history of genocide and the long-term systematic discrimination against ethnic minorities resembles a chronic disease. The Native American population plummeted from five million at the end of the 15th century to 250,000 at the beginning of the 20th century, a decline of 95%.’

Multiple research shows that China, using American social media platforms, has deliberately been disseminating disinformation to dispel accusations of human rights violations and genocide. Beijing is endangering American national security by spreading divisive information about U.S internal politics and foreign agenda.

So far, the U.S has not taken serious actions to stop large-scale Chinese disinformation campaigns targeting the international community and American citizens.
