Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hosted by Pakistan, Times Now, an Indian News media, reports.

Uyghur organizations such as World Uyghur Congress (WUC) have expressed their concern over Wang’s attendance.

While genocide against the Uyghur people by the Chinese regime is taking place, the presence of Wang Yi at the OIC Council undermines the credibility and international standing of the OIC, WUC writes in a press release.

The OIC has consistently failed to condemn the Uyghur genocide and the arbitrary detainment of millions of Uyghurs in Chinese concentration camps. It has also kept an arms distance to Uyghurs, a Turkic group native to Chinese occupied Uyghuristan (East Turkistan).

China has close business ties with the member states of OIC. Beijing is brazenly using its long arm of economical influence over these Muslim countries in order to muzzle their voices against the maltreatment of Uyghurs.
