Volunteer Opportunity: Join Uyghur Times in Making a Difference by telling the Truth

Uyghur Times, a Washington, DC-based media organization, is dedicated to telling the truth about China and its policies toward the Uyghur people.  

Our comprehensive coverage extends to politics in the People’s Republic of China and Central Asia, delivered in multiple languages including Uyghur, Mandarin Chinese, English, Turkish, Arabic, German, Japanese, French, and Russian.  The majority of our dedicated reporters and media personnel are volunteers hailing from various corners of the globe. We rely on support from public donors and our valued audience. 

Now, we are reaching out to passionate individuals like yourself, who possess the relevant skills and a deep commitment to serving humanity, to join our cause and amplify the voice of the suffering Uyghur people on a global scale.

Requirements:

  • A willingness to uphold the core values and mission of Uyghur Times, following the principles of responsible journalism.
  • A strong determination to uncover the truth about the Uyghur people and expose the ongoing atrocities and crimes against humanity committed by the Chinese Communist Party.

Knowledge and experience in media, communication, journalism, English literature, creative writing, graphic design, video editing, or related fields would be advantageous.

Open Positions: These positions specifically apply to our English Channel:

  1. Reporter: Responsibilities: Craft news articles covering the current situation of Uyghurs, the Uyghur diaspora worldwide, Chinese propaganda, international reactions to the ongoing Uyghur genocide, and public campaigns.
  2. Editor: Responsibilities: Edit and proofread news articles, as well as opinion pieces written by Voice of Uyghur volunteers and other contributors.
  3. Anchor and Newsreader: Responsibilities: Present news reports and articles published by Voice of Uyghur, contributing to video recordings.
  4. Video Editor: Responsibilities: Create and edit videos that expose and elucidate the Uyghur genocide.
  5. Graphic Design: Responsibilities: Design and create various visual content that highlights the atrocities and contextualizes them within articles.
  6. Fundraiser: Responsibilities: We require experienced fundraisers and grant proposal writers to plan and execute fundraising campaigns, supporting our offices in Washington, DC, and Istanbul, Turkey. Funds are necessary for rent, employing full-time staff, and acquiring equipment.
  7. Social Media Managers: Responsibilities: Oversee our official accounts on various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, and Instagram.
