TikTok video by ‘Uyghur Youth Initiative’ goes viral 

Last weekend, a video posted by Uyghur Youth Initiative gained over 3 million views on TikTok and 7.5 million hits on Instagram,  RNS News reports. The clip features three young, German-based Uyghur activists.

“We are Uyghurs. Of course, we go to protests instead of school,” said one of the activists. “We are Uyghurs. Of course, we don’t know if our families are alive or not,” added another.

Beijing has long been targeting the Uyghurs, a Turkic people who are predominantly Sunni Muslims. China has been colonizing the Uyghurs’ homeland since 1949 and is committing genocide against the Uyghurs.
