According to Fox News, two Republican lawmakers, Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman James Comer of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee (R-KY), have requested Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to provide records of Chinese mail and shipments entering the US through USPS. The request is part of the ongoing investigation into Chinese companies Shein and Temu, who exploit the de minimis provision to avoid compliance with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and import duties. The lawmakers expressed concern over the abuse of this provision and its negative impact on the US economy and national security. They ask the Postal Service to share data on Chinese-origin shipments using de minimis entry, similar to information released by other federal agencies.
