Dr. Rune Steenberg is a danish anthropologist. Steenberg has worked for years studying Uyghur communities across the world.His research focuses on kinship, social networks, and economic life in western Xinjiang, as well as the repression faced by Uyghurs and Kazakhs in China. He has published widely and is currently leading the EU-funded project Remote Ethnography of XUAR while serving as a resident fellow at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek.
