Who we are: Uyghur Times
Uyghur Times, based in Washington, DC, is a media organization dedicated to reporting on Uyghur human rights, life, and culture. Our coverage extends to Uyghur communities worldwide, China’s political landscape, and Central Asia, presented in multiple languages. Founded in 2018 by Uyghur scholar and rights advocate Tahir Imin Uyghurian, it is a self-funded, volunteer-based, independent media organization (not affiliated with political organizations or governments) that relies on the personal financing of its founder and the support of the Uyghur community in the diaspora.

At Uyghur Times, our mission is to provide an authentic and unbiased voice for the Uyghur people. Through our news reports, opinions, firsthand information, interviews, and polls, we strive to shed light on China’s policies concerning Uyghur individuals, international responses, and Uyghur diaspora life. We distribute our original content as well as verified information from reliable sources across our 15 websites and 50 social media accounts, reaching millions of people worldwide.
Our Projects:
In addition to our news reporting in nine different languages, the Uyghur Times spearheads several significant projects aimed at raising awareness and advocating for Uyghur rights.

Uyghur Radio International, also known as Uyghur Radio, is an online platform for universal audio programs under the Uyghur Times. The platform aims to create, collect, store, and distribute diverse audio content covering literature, culture, music, politics, history, and religion, as well as lectures on personal development, psychology, and language.
2-Voice of Uyghur:
“Voice of Uyghur,” a news and commentary podcast, conducts interviews and produces audio and video op-ed podcasts. Voice of Uyghur is a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registered trade mark that belongs to the Uyghur Times and its founder. Apple podcast: here
3-TV Uyghur (in Uyghur Language):
TV Uyghur is an online video platform dedicated to producing and sharing weekly news and diverse programs focused on the Uyghur people.

4-Uyghur Online Forum:
The Uyghur Online Forum, hosted on munber.iuyghur.com, is a dedicated platform designed to facilitate the sharing and exchange of ideas, essays, and discussions among the Uyghur diaspora community in the Uyghur language. Founded in 2021 by Tahir Imin, this forum is an integral part of Uyghur Times.
Inspired by previous websites such as Diyarim, Xabnam, Salkin, Misranim, Bagdax, and Izdinix, which were forcefully taken down by the Chinese government following the Urumqi crackdown in July 5th and the 2017 Genocide campaign, the Uyghur Discussion Forum serves as a free platform for individuals to share their unique perspectives, op-eds, and information on various aspects of Uyghur life.
Uyghur Times Team:
The Uyghur Times, a volunteer-based organization, has assembled a team of Uyghur and non-Uyghur intellectuals who possess expertise in journalism, politics, history, literature, and language.
