Uyghur women who were not able to hear of their abandoned children in China marched from Istanbul to Ankara on March 8, International Women's Day. When they arrived in Gebzi, police forces stopped them and sent them back to Istanbul on the evening of March 8.

The women activists started their journey again to let their voices be heard by the world on March 9.but on March 10, they were sent back to Istanbul by Turkish security forces again.

The activists told the RFA Uyghur service that the police took them to a police station in Pendik on their third attempt at Ankara. The police told them that they were not given permission to go and warned them not to go.

On March 18, despite the constant efforts of Turkish police to stop Uyghur women, they have succeeded to go into the Capital city and protested in front of the Chinese Embassy there. The organizer of the event told Voice of Uyghur: The women issued a joint statement: As mothers who lost their children to China’s state-run orphanages, we are doing what we can do. And you, as a government, must do what you have to do. These innocent children ask for the help of the whole world, they ask when they will be able to reunite with their mother.

For the past three and a half years, Uyghurs around the world have been asking the Chinese government about their missing children and family members. But the Chinese government has been refusing to provide information.
