Idris Hasan, ethnic Uyghur, 33, Male, (born 1988) went to Morocco on July 19, 2021. He was arrested by Moroccan police and detained in a prison near Casablanca.
Hasan holds a Chinese passport and Turkish residency permit. His wife told Voice of Uyghur that he called her saying that Moroccan police told him “The Chinese authorities asked the Morocco government to deport him back to China saying he has participated in anti-China activities.”
According to multiple accounts including Zikrualla and Ablajan, Hasan has been working as a computer designer in Turkey since he came to the country in 2012. Hasan has been living in Turkey with his wife Zaynura and three children aged 7, 5, and 2.
Hasan left Turkey as he didn’t feel safe there as many Uyghurs were reportedly arrested for their activism against China. Some Uyghurs were deported to China.
According to our inquiry, Hasan has no criminal record and has never participated in violent activism. He has volunteered to testimony collection of Uyghur groups in Turkey by designing posters and signs.
Hasan’s family hopes the international community to step in and save his life.
