On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the resilience of Uyghur women, many of whom endure unjust imprisonment under China’s repression.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has committed numerous human rights violations against Uyghur women, including:
- Mass Arbitrary Detention – Thousands of Uyghur women have been imprisoned or sent to internment camps without due process.
- Forced Sterilization & Birth Control – Many Uyghur women have been subjected to forced sterilizations, IUD implants, and abortions to suppress Uyghur birth rates.
- Sexual Violence & Abuse – Survivors have reported systematic rape, forced nudity, and other forms of sexual violence in detention centers.
- Forced Labor – Uyghur women are taken from their homes and forced to work in factories under harsh conditions.
- Family Separation – Uyghur mothers are torn from their children, who are placed in state-run orphanages for indoctrination.
- Religious & Cultural Erasure – Uyghur women are banned from wearing hijabs, practicing Islam, or speaking their language freely.
- Surveillance & Harassment – The CCP monitors Uyghur women’s movements, forces them to live with Han Chinese “relatives,” and punishes those with overseas connections.
