On Sept 30, Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu said in an interview with the Turkish semi-official news agency Anadolu News Agency that “We stand on the side of Azerbaijan both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.” He said that if Azerbaijan requests, Turkey will take all necessary actions. However, Cavusoglu said that Azerbaijan’s own power is more than sufficient. At the same time, he asked the international community to call on Armenia to withdraw its troops from the Naka region.
Armenia and Azerbaijan broke out in a new round of conflict in the Naka region on Sept 27. Both sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement and taking the lead in launching a military offensive. The conflict is still ongoing.
